Why engaging holiday park website design is so important

It’s true what they say, first impressions really do count. When someone lands on your website you generally only have a few seconds to grab their attention. For holiday parks and campsites, it’s crucial that a holidaymaker is presented with images and information that will help them to visualise a holiday at your park.

Quality holiday park website is so important; your site has to entice, engage and inform, and usually all at the same time! Powerful images that sell the location (not just the holiday park in question), useful information that’s easy to digest and a site that is simple and straightforward to navigate – all are vital in order to secure bookings. It sounds easy when you say it out loud but knowing how to pull it offer is an altogether different proposition.

The importance of appealing holiday park website design was underlined in a recent report which showed that nearly 80 per cent of holidays are now booked on-line, threatening the very existence of the high street travel agent.

British adults are turning to online travel agencies and search engines as well as airline and hotel websites, a report by travel search engine Kayak found.

Of those who booked holidays on-line, 47 per cent chose to do so direct through airline or accommodation provider’s website while 24 per cent used travel search engines. 10 years ago only 35 per cent booked their holidays online, which shows the huge change the industry has faced.

The report also stated that even sources of inspiration have gone online with more than double the number of people looking to social media and blogs for ideas.

Loella Pehrsson, regional director at Kayak, said: “Given the internet allows you to not only shop around, but browse and book holidays from the comfort of your own home, it’s no surprise that Brits are increasingly choosing this option over high street travel agents.

“The data also shows that whilst the computer is Brits’ preferred device for travel planning and booking, we’re using our mobiles more and more.”

The news shows the true value of quality website design for holiday parks, without which they may struggle to both attract and engage with potential customers.
